From, getting the car checked in correctly, making sure the estimator wrote the correct estimate (even though you even write left or right literally on the headlight as they take pictures so they order the correct one, nope), the parts person checking that the correct part came in and matches the broken one, to the painter doing a good job painting, and not missing parts you repaired like pinch welds or hood hinges. But also found out real quick that you have to rely on literally every single person in the shop to make your check. Found out that I was able to make decent checks on my own, around $1300/week gross. As bad as the situation was, it was my only saving grace, as I was on my own. My team leader was so unmotivated after that, he eventually left too, leaving me by myself. Luckily I was on a team that disbanded for the same reason, they where all fed with the pay they where receiving. You never gain the experience to move up. I started as a detailer and moved my way into a tech, but that journey was very difficult, and if you don't have the right teachers actually wanting to see you succeed, you're stuck doing the grunt work they don't want to do. I have worked at 4 different Caliber shops in 3 different states. EVACUATED, PULLED VACUUM & MONITORED SYSTEM TO CHECK FOR POSSIBLE LEAKS.CHECK AND ADJUSTED TIRE PRESSURE AS PER DOOR PLACARD.RESET SERVICE LIGHT IF PERFORMING OIL CHANGE.INSPECT & CLEAN ANY GREASE MARKS AND FINGER PRINTS FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF CUSTOMERS VEHICLE WHEN DONE WITH REPAIRS.FLOOR MAT & SEAT COVER IN CUSTOMER VEHICLE.TIGHTENED UP RIGHT SIDE VALVE COVER GASKET BOLTS. LEFT VALVE COVER GASKET – REMOVED & REPLACED -FOUND BOLTS LOOSE ON LEFT VALVE COVER AND GASKET TO BE AFTERMARKET. RECOMMEND REPLACING LEFT VALVE COVER GASKET. ON INSPECTION, FOUND LEFT VALVE COVER GASKET LEAKING.
